Written August 2013
Hey Travelers! I’m moving to Spain!
It wasn’t until Tuesday, August 27th that it happened. I was in the bathroom getting ready for work when I heard loud knocking at the front door. My mom went downstairs to open the door. She yells, “Chelsea!”
I told her I was coming. At the time, I didn’t think about who was at the door.
When I made my way downstairs, I saw an angel, an angel who was in the form of a mail carrier. This benevolent woman was holding the object that I yearned for, for nearly a month. She had my VISA!
When I saw the express envelope that I gave to the consulate 3 weeks and 6 days ago, I was elated. I threw my arms around the mail carrier and thanked her repeatedly. Christmas had come early.
I got my visa y’all! It’s about time. Prior to receiving my visa from the Spanish consulate in Washington, D.C., I had to wait for what seemed like an eternity. I’m not going to lie, I was starting to panic. I didn’t know if the consulate misplaced my application or if it got lost in the mail. I was worried that if my visa did not come, I’d lose the money used to buy my plane ticket.
Every time I tried to track the visa via USPS, it said “a delivery status is not available for your item via this website.” When I called the consulate they told me to call back when it was officially a month.
But all of this was resolved on August 27, 2013. I can now breathe a sigh of relief.
