Hey Travelers! Ever faced a delayed or canceled flight and felt lost about what to do? Are meal vouchers and lodging accommodations included with delayed or canceled flights? In this article and video, I unpack and simplify what you need to know when dealing with this unfortunate scenario. We tackle canceled and flight delay compensation so you can know your rights!
The U.S. Department of Transportation offers a service tracker that outlines the services airlines should provide when delays and cancellations are their fault.
These services may include meal or cash vouchers if a “cancellation results in a passenger waiting for three hours or more for a new flight,” rebooking on the “same airline at no additional cost,” and “complimentary ground transportation to and from a hotel for any passenger affected by an overnight cancellation,” among other services (Source: U.S. Department of Transportation).
The U.S. Department of Transportation made reading the tracker easy! On the tracker, a green check mark indicates that the airline agrees to provide a specific service if a flight is delayed or canceled, while a red X means the airline is not responsible for that particular service.
