Hey Travelers! I have a special guest! My fiance. In this article and video, my fiance, Austin, is going to tell our engagement story.
When Chelsea and I first met, there was an instant connection that neither of us could ignore. It was the kind of intuition that told me I had found someone special. Prior to meeting Chelsea, I had dated others, but something about her was different, and I just knew she was the one.
Our first date was a success! It was filled with charm and surprises for her. I set up a picturesque charcuterie board with pastrami, salami, and an assortment of cheeses. It was something I made just for Chelsea. We went fishing on our first date. I remember that someone remarked that we were overdressed, but that made the day even more memorable.
Fast forward two years, and I was planning the engagement. Chelsea was in Brazil at the time, which made the proposal a logistical challenge. I decided to take her ring shopping, heeding the advice that the person wearing the ring should have a say in its selection. Little did she know that the diamond I chose was my grandmother’s, making it all the more significant.
Before going ahead with the proposal, I got the blessings of my parents and Chelsea’s parents. It was a tradition I wanted to honor. A few close friends were also in on the secret.
The plan was initially to propose at the spot where we first met, with a drone dropping the ring. However, due to logistical issues, we ended up at the park where we had our first date. Chelsea, despite some subtle hints from me, had no idea that a proposal was imminent.
As I got down on one knee and proposed, Chelsea was overwhelmed with joy and emotion. She immediately said yes, and the moment became all the more special because it was just the two of us in a serene woodland setting (the spot of our first date), exactly how Chelsea had always wanted it.
After the proposal, we went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate. I don’t remember what we ordered, but what mattered most was the start of our engagement journey.
Chelsea and I are now on our way to planning our wedding, and we invite you to follow our journey. We acknowledge the challenges and expenses that come with wedding planning, especially when you’re overseas, and we’re eager to share tips and resources that have helped us in this process.
