Hey Travelers! We’ve all been there: you arrive at your destination, get your luggage, and then discover that your stuff is soaked! Your favorite products have spilled all over your belongings, creating a messy situation. How can you avoid leaks or spills in your suitcase? In this short guide, I’ll show you how to prevent spills in your suitcase. Here’s what you need to do:
What You Will Need (Most Supplies You Can Find In Your House):
Saran wrap, OR
A Ziplock bag
The product that may cause the leak
A plastic bag
Tape (optional)
Steps to Avoid Leaks & Spills In Your Suitcase:
Take your bottle of lotion, perfume, or anything with a lid and unscrew it.
Put the Saran Wrap over the mouth of the bottle. If you don’t have Saran Wrap, you can use a Ziplock bag.
Alternatively, just put the Ziplock bag over the mouth of the bottle.
If your bottle has a straw (like with lotion, for example), poke a small hole in the center of the Saran Wrap.
Put the lid of the bottle over the Saran Wrap or Ziplock bag and screw it on tightly. Make sure you turn the bottle upside down and tilt it to the right and left to ensure nothing is coming out.
Optional step: If you wish, you can wrap the Saran Wrap or Ziplock bag around the lid of the bottle.
Place your bottle in a plastic bag and tie the bag shut. I like to do this because even if the previous steps fail, which usually they don’t, I have an extra layer of protection. The liquids won’t get all over the rest of the things in my suitcase/checked luggage.
