Hey Travelers! Ready to make your holiday journey as smooth as a scoop of mashed potatoes? It’s never to early to be informed! These are common travel tips are straight from TSA. Check out these tips in this holiday airport travel dos and don’ts guide that will keep your travel adventure hassle-free!
First things first – your carry-on. Feel free to pack your favorite holiday treats like sweet potato pie, meats, and stuffing. Yum! But watch out for the cranberry sauce. According to the TSA, “you are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item.” If it’s over 3.4 oz, it’s safer in your checked luggage.
Now, onto gifts. Whether it’s for your loved ones or a festive party, consider wrapping them at your destination. TSA might want to take a peek, and no one wants an airport unwrapping party.
Bringing along something special? If you’re packing heat – firearms, that is – do it right. They go in a locked, hard case within your checked luggage. Remember to declare them at the counter, not at security, to avoid fines.
Time is your best friend! Make sure to get to the airport 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours for international ones. It gives you plenty of time to check in, go through security, and maybe grab a holiday snack. Do not underestimate the crowds at the airport during the holiday season!
And that’s it! Share these tips with your fellow travelers, and make sure to follow Hey Ms. Traveler for more travel wisdom.
