International education is when students and scholars move across geographic boundaries to learn and/or exchange ideas. This is done through academic study, teaching, or research. International education is important because it creates a mutual understanding between different cultures. Education is one of the first defenses against war and conflict, which contributes to security and peace.
If you want to work in this field, you’ll probably need a bachelor’s degree (BS or BA). Sometimes, it’s even better if you have a master’s degree. People in this field often have their bachelor’s degrees in subjects like English, psychology, political science, a foreign language, or other types of liberal arts.
If you dream of teaching English to people who speak another language, you might need something special. It’s called TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). But guess what? It depends on where you work and the company you work for. Also, there are other certificates, workshops, and things to learn that can help you do well in this career.
